Abstract

                  This thesis is of 3 objectives :- namely 1. to study the support of Buddhism by Anāthapiṇḍika Seṭṭī. 2. to study the roles played by Mother Teresa supporting the Christianity. 3. to Comparative Study of the Roles played by Anāthapiṇḍika Seṭṭī and Mother Teresa in Supporting the Religions.

      From the research, it is found that Anāthapiṇḍika Seṭṭī was born in the family of the Millionaire and had the commercial occupation with the casts. He was Upāsaka who was the best Upāsaka in offering the Upāsaka Dāna Sotīpanna person. He played many roles in supporting Buddhism in the following matters :- the support gives to the Sangha with four factor, the support of the education, the public health and the spread of the Dhammas etc. He has been the exemplary person in Buddhism up to the present time.

      From the roles played by Mother Teresa to the Christianity, it is found that. She was a Catholic missionary who was famous in helping those who were in trouble in Calcutta city, India. She received the Noble Prize in the branch of Peace. After her death, she was announced as Blessed with the name of “Blessed Teresa of Calcutta”. She played the roles in supporting Christianity with the love for the human being and the faith in God.

      From the compassion of the roles played of Anāthapiṇḍika Seṭṭī and Mother Teresa, it is found that. Anāthapiṇḍika Seṭṭī was so rich that he could donate the money to support Buddhism. So, he could support Buddhism more than other people and he also receives the support from the King. Regard Mother Teresa, she had more treble become of her poverty. She had spend much time in supporting Christianity. Besides, she was new group missionary from the foreign countries. So, she was opposed by the local people. However, the local found the result of her work, they supported her and thus, she was supported them in end. Moreover, the people in group missionary have been accepted in their works up to the present time.
