The present study aimed at i) to study the public opinion towards the community development in accordance with Brahmavihara IV of Talingchan Office, Bangkok; ii) to compare the public opinion towards the community development in accordance with Brahmavihara IV of Talingchan Office, Bangkok, classified by personal factors; and iii) to study the problems and suggestions the community development in accordance with Brahmavihara IV of Talingchan Office, Bangkok.
The mixed research was employed in this study. The sample used in this study consisted of 360 out of 5,000 people who came to get services during 3 moths in Talingchan Office, Bangkok, drawn by random sampling technique. The tools used for data collection were questionnaire and interview schedule. The gathered data were analyzed by using statistical techniques such as frequencies, percentage, mean and standard deviation. To test the hypotheses, t-test and F-Test (One Way Analysis of Variance) were employed. A mean difference of the pair was conducted by a Least Significant Different (LSD). For data collected from in-depth interview was analyzed by content analysis technique.
The findings of this study are concluded as follows :
1. The overall opinions of respondents relating to the public opinion towards the community development in accordance with Brahmavihara IV of Talingchan Office, Bangkok, were found at the most level. When considered into each aspect, it was noticed at the most levels in all aspects ranging from the most and least in terms of mean score: Karuna ( = 3.34), Upekkha ( = 3.34) Mudita ( = 3.58) and Metta ( = 3.60).
2. To compare opinions of people relating to the community development in accordance with Brahmavihara IV of Talingchan Office, Bangkok, classified by personal factors, it was found that age, status, level of education and monthly income have significant differences at 0.05 level of confidence, thus accepting formulated hypotheses, whereas sex and occupation were found no significant differences, therefore rejecting set hypothesis.
3. Recommendations for improvement community development in accordance with Brahmavihara IV of Talingchan Office, Bangkok, revealed that there should encourage and support the learning process by organizing training for personnel in various fields and inculcating the virtues to personnel in order to make them sacrifice to serve people, there should use the reasons and information documents as the main source for working and solve the conflict, there should be clear community development plans both in long and short terms, there should help each other in working for community development, there should create harmony among personnel and people in community, there should support the human resources in consistent with knowledge and competencies, there should be study tour in both Thailand and overseas in order to develop personnel’s capabilities for community development, fairness and justice should be prevalent among personnel of District Office and people in the area.
