A Comparative Study of Anger and Anger Management in Theravada Buddhism and Christianity

Abstract

  The objectives of this research are divided into three as follow : 1) to study of anger and anger management in Theravada Buddhism, 2) to study of ager and anger management in Christianity, and 3) to comparative study of ager and anger management in Theravada Buddhism and Christianity.

The result of study is concluded that,
1. The point of anger and anger management in Theravada Buddhism
Anger or angry manner is the state of anger, feud, ill-will which cause the disaster to oneself and others. The anger managements are divided into six principles, they are, 1) Pañca-sīla: the fives precepts, 2) Adosa: non-hatred, 3) Sati: mindfulness, 4) Mettā: loving-kindness, 5) Garavāsa-dhamma: virtues for a good household life, and 6) Hiri-Ottappa: moral shame and moral dread. 
The person managing of the anger is good healthy, one who developing loving-kindness is confident-minded in loving-kindness. The benefits of loving-kindness are comfort sleep, comfort awake, no evil dreams, concentrated mind quickly, fresh face, and the high-minded can be developed by meditation. The mind is concentrated on levels of Jhāna: absorption e.g. the first Jhāna etc. and practice to Vipassana: Insight meditation which is contemplation on wisdom seeing the truth of formation, five Khandhas: aggregates, not animals or person and non-self considering by wisdom and leave from Lobha: greed, Dosa: hatred, and Moha: delusion until abandonment by cutting off defilements. 
2. The point of anger and anger management in Christianity
Anger is the state of unpleasant tempers which is from treated feeling unjustly, insulting or treats etc., it will develop through attitudes, behaviors, emotions and feelings of human beings, there are, 1) indifference, 2) insult, 3) easy anger, 4) lose temper, disappointment and frustration, 5) envy, 6) anger, and 7) vengeance.     
The purpose of anger management is reduction of angry temper and responding to anger both physical and mental side. The anger management in the correct way of God is 1) be calm, 2) be quiet, 3) using wisdom, 4) be distinguished, and 5) overcoming anger daily 6)…………. 
3. Comparative of anger and anger management in Theravada Buddhism and Christianity
The anger managements in Buddhism can be divided into two, they are, the mundane anger management which retrain by concentration, and the supramundane anger management by Vipassana: insight meditation. Then, in Christianity is the practice according to the way of the God, e.g. 1) be calm, 2) be quiet, 3) using wisdom, 4) be distinguished, and 5) overcoming anger daily 6)………….
