Performance Following Fourfold Gharavasadhamma of the Traffic Police Officers at the Khonkaen Police Station

Abstract

  The objectives of this research were (1) to study the respondent’s individual elements, (2) to study performance following fourfold Gharavasadhamma of the traffic police officers at the Khonkaen Police Station, (3) to compare performance following fourfold Gharavasadhamma of the traffic police officers at the Khonkaen Police Station with the classification of the individual elements, (4) problems and suggestions the performance following fourfold Gharavasadhamma of the traffic police officers at the Khonkaen Police Station, and (5) ways of developing the performance following fourfold Gharavasadhamma of the traffic police officers at the Khonkaen Police Station. This was the mixed qualitative-quantitative research. The sample was 148 police officers at the Khonkaen Police Station. The research instruments for the data collection were questionnaire analyzed with the Statistical Packet for the Social Science (SPSS). The population’s general data was analyzed with frequency and percentage. Following fourfold Gharavasadhamma was analyzed with mean, standard deviation, t tests (t-test for Independent samples), t-test (One way ANOVA). The qualitative research collected all data by the in-depth interview from the key informants: 5 commissioned police officers at the Khonkaen Police Station. The analysis of the collected data from the in-depth interview about searching the ways to develop the practice of fourfold Gharavasadhamma was done with the data analysis with the descriptive method.

A result of this research was found in the following points.
1. Most of the traffic police officers at the Khonkaen Police Station were a male (86.5%), 41 – 50 of their age (48.0%), undergraduate education (50.0%), position of the police officers (84.5%), and income of more 20,000 baht (75.5%).
2. The performance of following fourfold Gharavasadhamma done by the traffic police officers at the Khonkaen Police Station were generally in the high level (=4.46). When all aspects were considered, they were accounted from the high level to the low one: Sacca (= 4.57), Khanti (= 4.47), Caga (= 4.41) and Dama (= 4.40).
3. The traffic police officers who were in the different age took the different performance with following fourfold Gharavasadhamma. This aspect agreed with the given hypothesis. However, the traffic police officers, who were in the different age, education, position, salary, took the indifferent performance with following fourfold Gharavasadhamma. This aspect did not agree with the given hypothesis.
4. Problems, here, were not sincere in the public service, mentally controlled, intentional and harmonious in performance. Some suggestion was that the public police officers ought to perform honestly with controlling their mind. The commander ought to ask all public police officers to follow the rules strictly and then, give some punishment when they transgressed the rules. Finally, all public police officers ought to be trained in the form of teamwork.
5. Ways of developing the performance of following fourfold Gharavasadhamma done by the traffic police officers at the Khonkaen Police Station were to make them conscious of public benefits rather than individual benefits, to grow the honesty, punctual working, responsibility of the given duty, working with mindfulness and consideration, endurance, effort, freedom, sufficient life, mental training for reducing the intensity of seriousness, and to follow the police idealism strictly in order to bring all peace and happiness to the public.
