The Education Management for Sustainable Development of Sangha in the Luang Prabang city, Lao PDR.

Abstract

This study consisted of three main objectives, namely,  i) to study the process of educational management for sustainable development of the Luang Prabang, Lao PDR, ii) to study problems and obstacles, the results of educational management for sustainable development of the Luang Prabang Royal Society Laos iii) to study the guidelines for educational management for sustainable development of the Luang Prabang, Lao PDR for sustainable development. The qualitative research was carried out in this study. The data were collected from 17 key informants who are monks and laypersons involving with the Luang Prabang Buddhist Sangha through in-depth interview and descriptive method was used for data analysis.

The results of the research were concluded as follows:

1) The educational management process for sustainable development of the Luang Prabang Buddhist Sangha found that: i) for Dhamma studies aspect, learning and teaching of Dhamma of Luang Prabang Buddhist Sangha is based on central system, Luang Prabang Buddhist Sangha lacks teachers to teach Buddhist monks and novices, ii) for general studies, Luang Prabang Buddhist Sangha Luang Prabang Buddhist Sangha runs education from primary to secondary schools only, iii) for social development,  the Sangha provided assistance in teaching and learning equipment to schools in rural areas, iv) for propagation of Buddhism and wisdom, the Sangha makes training for youth, kids, general Buddhists to observe five precepts and merit making, and v) for conservation of art and culture as a world heritage city of Luang Prabang, monks and people of Luang Prabang have preserved and supported cultural arts such as offering sticky rice to monks as the outstanding highlight of Luang Prabang.

2) Regarding problems and obstacles, results of educational management for sustainable development of the Luang Prabang, Lao PDR, it was found that: i) about education equality, Lao education still lacking teacher development lack of teaching and learning equipment, ii) for poverty eradication, resolutions for this by allowing the villagers to bring their children to ordain in order to reduce the burden of poor families and training youth to be diligent, honest, and honest, iii) for environmental management, educating people in environmental conservation by no deforestation, iv) for cultural management, most of the Luang Prabang people still respect traditional and traditional culture, but some may change, but not much.

3) Guidelines for educational management for sustainable development of the Luang Prabang, Lao PDR, revealed: i) for educational management, the Luang Prabang Sangha has sent their students to study abroad to bring the knowledge learned for the administration of the Sangha in the modern era, ii) for guidelines to solve problems of inequality in education, it noted that Luang Prabang Sangha has a solution to education inequalities for the development of sustainable development by publicizing for the villagers to bring their children to ordain, iii) there is training of children to be diligent, diligent, honest, and know how to save money in daily life and  know to make a living in accordance with the law, iv) for environmental solutions,  the state and the Sangha have organized training for people to know how to protect the environment for sustainable development by encouraging tree planting, and v) for guidelines for solving cultural problems, it has to organize moral training programs, chanting over the years or preach to them to be faithful to Buddhism
