The Buddhist Self-Reliance of the Youth through an Integrated Project of Gilded Black and Gold Lacquer Craftsman

Abstract

The research consists of three objectives: 1) to explore the concept of self-reliance of youths based on the Buddhist Doctrine, 2) to study self-reliance activities of adolescents through the integrated project of gilded black and gold lacquer craftsman of Thumpin School, Phayao province and 3) to analyze the behavior of young Buddhist self-reliance through the integrated project of gilded black and gold lacquer craftsman of Thumpin School, Phayao province. The samples used in the research were the Mathayom Suksa 3 students of Thumpin School in the academic year 2016. The instruments used in the research were: learning management plans, tests, interviews and satisfaction assessment forms. The research found that:

1. The concept of self-reliance of youths based on the Buddhist Doctrines, they need to develop themselves by Nàthakaraõa-dhamma or virtues which make for protection viz. 1) keeping moral habits, 2) great learning, 3) association with good people, 4) amenability to correction, 5) willingness to give a helping hand, 6) love of truth, 7) energetic exertion, 8) contentment, 9) ability to remember what one has done and spoken and 10) wisdom. These ten principles will lead to self-reliance. 

2.    Self-reliant activity of youths based on the Buddhist doctrines, the Buddha used the principles and teaching methods based on four principles i.e.
1) elucidation and verification, 2) inspiration towards the goal, 3) filling with enthusiasm and 4) filling with delight and joy.  Youths can apply this principle to their daily lives.

3. The analysis of Buddhist self-reliant youth’s behavior through an integrated project of gilded black and gold lacquer craftsman of Thumpin School, it was found that the learning achievement and student satisfaction as follows: 1) The achievement of individual academic progress increased from the pre-class score when analyzed, including the average student progression to 30.60 percent. 2) The achievement of the standard of learning showed that the students had the achievement score of 60 percent or more, representing 100 percent. 3) Achievement by t-test. It showed that students have higher academic achievement. 4) The achievement of all learning satisfaction was found to be the average of 4.7, which was the highest level and the total S.D. value was .51. 5) The quality and quantity evaluation performance, it was found that the students had a better quality score of 10 person or fully 100 percent.
