Abstract

The objectives of this thesis are : 1) to study the development of the ordination in Buddhism 2) to analyze the problems of the ordination in contemporary Thai society 3) to study how to solve the problems about the ordination in contemporary Thai society.

This research is a qualitative one with two patterns :- the documentary research including field research by making in-depth interview with 37 participants who specially  and related persons give the data by the way of analyzing contexts.  This study found that ordination in Buddhism means that people have to practice or self develop in body, speech  and mind for making they themselves out of or beyond the status of lay man by living  their lives against the desires.  From the study, it is found that the ordaintation is to leave from home by searching inside peaceful.  There are three periods of time of ordination in Buddhism : the beginning time, Buddha ordained a monk by himself called Ehibhikku Upbhasampstha, the middle time, the ordinator praised three refuges : the Buddha, the Dhamma, and the Sangha called Tisaranakhamnu Ubhasampatha, and the last time, the Buddha allowed Sanga to ordain monks by the monks praised four Yaties called Yatijadhutakarma Ubhaasampatha which is used nowadays and the Dhamma Vinaya are the process of screening the ordainers.

This research in the term of the ordainers found that there are different purposes of ordination, and most of them do not exactly understand about the ultimate of ordination.

And the term of Sanga, This research found that the problems are the effectiveness of the examining and screening process and lacking of persons to train both theory and practice to the ordainers.

To fix these problems out, this study offers the solutions as follow 1. Strictly practice by following the principle of Dhamma Vinaya. 2. Strictly screen and examine the behavior of the ordainers. 3. To provide classes of training the principle of Dhamma Vinaya both before and after ordination by using the similar cubiculum. 4. To develop the quality and quantity of both places and persons so that the dissemination of Buddhism would be succeed as the intention and indulgence of the Buddha.
